The Star Wars Battlefront 2 release is confirmed and a flood of new and exciting details has emerged ahead of its release date.

Its been more than a year since EA and DICE revived the Star Wars Battlefront franchise. Their version of Star Wars Battlefront, a spin on DICE’s Battlefield games, arrived in November of 2015 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

In December, DICE released the final piece of Star Wars Battlefront DLC dubbed Rogue One: Scarif. The DLC arrived just ahead of Rogue One the movie.

As we push deeper into 2017, support for the original game has slowed down as EA and DICE prepare to showcase the sequel, the 2017 version of Star Wars Battlefront 2.

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 release was originally confirmed all the way back in May of 2016. At the time, the company said the sequel would feature “bigger and better worlds” and that it would use content from the new Star Wars movies.

Since then we’ve learned a bit more about the Star Wars Battlefront 2 release including details about its release date, its content, pre-orders, and more.

With an announcement imminent, we want to take a close look at everything we currently know about the Star Wars Battlefront 2 release for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Release Date

EA and DICE haven’t confirmed a specific Star Wars Battlefront 2 release date but we have a pretty solid lead on a release window.

In November, EA confirmed plans to release Star Wars Battlefront 2 a year down the road which means a release date will likely land sometime in the fall. Star Wars Battlefront arrived on November 17th so you should expect a release right around then, ahead of the holidays.

We expect the official Star Wars Battlefront 2 release date to be revealed in the near future as EA and DICE start laying the groundwork for the game’s launch later on this year.

As for the game’s specific platforms, a release on PS4 is confirmed and we expect a launch on Xbox One and Windows PC as well. No word yet on a release for other platforms like the Nintendo Switch.

For more information, you’ll want to signup for the Star Wars Newsletter. If you do, you will receive the exclusive in-game “Not the Droids” emote. Make sure you use the email associated with the EA account you will use to play Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Pre-Orders

It looks like Star Wars Battlefront 2 pre-orders will start soon, maybe as soon as April 15th.

Thanks to a leaked trailer, we know EA and DICE will be offering at least one Star Wars Battlefront 2 pre-order bonus: The Last Jedi Heroes.

The company hasn’t gone into detail about what this entails but it looks like it will grant you access to heroes from the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi film.

If you’re unfamiliar with the first Star Wars Battlefront game, heroes are powerful characters that come with special maneuvers. Heroes from the first game include Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Trailer

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 trailer was supposed to debut during the Star Wars Celebration going down in Orland between April 13th and April 16th but it leaked ahead of time. Part of it, at least.

The trailer, which can be seen in the video below, showcases the game engine for the first time. It also gives us our first glimpse at some of the characters, worlds, and more.

On EA’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 website it notes that the full length trailer will debut on April 15th. It’s unclear if it will be longer than this 30 second clip.

Stay tuned.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Content, Price & More

Thanks to the trailer we have some details about Star Wars Battlefront 2’s content. Here are a few Cliff Notes:

  • Star Wars Battlefront 2 will feature heroes and other content from the prequel trilogy. It will also feature content from The Force Awakens.

  • There appears to be a single-player campaign that’s centered the woman below. She appears to be an Imperial officer and the game’s protagonist.

  • It looks like the game will include space battles.

  • The trailer includes Darth Maul, Kylo Ren, Rey, and Yoda.

  • We also catch a glimpse of what appears to be Hoth and the Starkiller Base.

The trailer doesn’t mention anything about the game’s price (we expect it to be the usual $60) nor does it go into detail about Star Wars Battlefront 2 DLC.

If DICE follows protocol we should see a $50 Season Pass emerge. The Season Pass will likely come with several expansions, early access to those expansions, emotes, and more.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Demo

If you want to play Star Wars Battlefront 2 before its release date you’ll be able to do that provided you can get to Los Angeles in June.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be playable at EA Play in June. Tickets will be available starting April 20th and they will probably go fast.

This demo will be available to the general public so if you want to try the game early you’ll want to get a ticket once they’re released the morning of the 20th.

Good luck.
