If you are an international traveler, one of the first things you want to do when you get to a new country is check out its local cuisine. However, even if you have a smartphone that can find reviews of local restaurants, you may not be able to read them if they are in a language you don’t understand. Today, Google says it will solve that problem by providing translated restaurant and point of interest reviews in its main Search app as well as in Google Maps.

The new feature will show the review in the translated language version on top, as set on your device, with the original version on the bottom. As Google points out, this gets rid of the need to copy those reviews and paste the words in a translation app or website. Of course, if you are not quite sure that Google’s automatic translation is accurate, you still have the original review to check out in case someone who speaks the language can read it and translate it for you.

While this is admittedly a minor addition to Google’s services, it’s still a very welcome one, especially for people who like to see the world. Do you think this automatic translation feature for reviews will come in handy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
