If you use your Android device to cast content like video or audio to other devices, such as a TV or a connected speaker, you may soon get some additional information when that happens on your network. A new report says that the new Google Play Services update to version 11 includes those new Google Cast notification changes.

If you and some other folks are each using an Android smartphone or tablet on your local network, all of them currently get a notification when just one of them is casting content to another connected device. However, this also allows anyone else who gets that notification to control or end that cast. Now, according to Android Police, the update to Google Play Services 11 shows a slightly different message, stating, “A device on your Wi-Fi is casting”.

This updated notification message still allows anyone on the network to take over that casting, but at least they will know if you are trying to cast your favorite YouTube video to your 60-inch TV, so they might not accidentally interrupt it. Since this is rolling out via the Google Play Services 11 update, the new notifications could take a few days to reach your phone.

By the way, you can stop those cast notifications on other devices on your network, but at the moment it has to be done manually on each device. Hopefully, Google will find a way to remotely end these notifications, without having to go and disable them on each and every device, in a future update.
